SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE

This simple Bolognese recipe with a hint of Worcestershire sauce creates an explosion of flavour and one can quickly whip up a hearty midweek meal!
Ingredients
- 500gr Lean Ground Beef
- 1 Large Onion Finely chopped
- 3 tbles Sunflower Oil
- 4 fat cloves of Garlic chopped
- 2 Celery stalks chopped
- 410gr Tin of Chopped Tomatoes
- 50 g Tomato Paste
- 1-2 cups Water
- 2 tsps Sugar
- 1 tbles Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp mixed dried herbs
- ½ tsp paprika
- Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- 250gr pkt mushrooms sliced
To serve:
- 350g spaghetti
- freshly grated Parmesan
- chopped parsley
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep saucepan and fry onions until just soft and translucent
- Add chopped garlic and braise for a few minutes.
- Add ground mince and braise until well browned
- Add the chopped celery,chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, worcestershire sauce, mixed herbs,paprika,sugar,salt and pepper
- Simmer covered,stirring occassionally for approx 45 mins until the meat is tender and the sauce has thickened, stirring occasionally,adding water if needed.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and stir through cooking for approx another 30 mins.
- Cook the spaghetti according to the packet instructions, drain and toss in a little olive oil, to prevent it from sticking together.
- Serve bolognese sauce over the hot spaghetti and garnish with grated Parmesan and fresh parsley.
